Introduction

The project aims to design, implement and evaluate a successful transnational network, aiming at the production of training and educational aids for the fisherman of the region of Peloponesus, Greece alongside the opportunities provided by the PESCA Community Initiative

Fisheries in general and the aquaculture industry in particular have serious development requirements concerning their human resource base. Such requirements eminate from such issues such as;

  • The training of new professionals
  • The introduction and acquisition of new technologies
  • The preparation of small and medium enterprises for their succession planning
  • The enhancement of the participation of the wider economic sector to take full account of its interaction with the fisheries sector
  • The clear understanding from the local and national authorities of the value of the sector in the cultural identity of the regions which makes it far more important than just represented b the input in the Gross Economic Product.

The present proposal stems as a response to EU wide initiatives concerning the development of strong transnational networks that will promote the enhancement of the training function in Europe.
