AquaFlow II - 2003

European Network for the Dissemination of Aquaculture RTD Information

(EU FAIR Programme/FAIR CT97-3837)

AquaFlowThe AQUAFLOW project was supported by the EU FAIR Programme, contracted by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) , and jointly promoted by the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP), and AquaTT. AQUAFLOW aimed to establish a wider and more rapid circulation of the results and progress of EU funded programmes in research, technological development, and demonstration.

The network focused on the dissemination of comprehensive information, communicated via a system of regular single-page Technical Leaflets summarising EU RTD projects. To receive the Technical Leaflets in your own language contact a member of the Project Management Team (PMT), your National Network Leader (NNL), your local Producer Association, or download them from the project website project website.

Summary:
Objectives of the project:

  • To establish a wider and faster circulation of information on the results and progress of EU funded (and eventually relevant non EU funded) programs of research, technological development, and demonstration in the field of aquaculture to the potential end users across Europe.
  • To communicate comprehensible data of interest and use to the end users, leading to an increased interaction and communication between the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the research community involved.
  • To enhance communication between traditionally isolated SMEs
  • To allow for two-way communication, to refine the services of the network, and to develop an efficient and long-term sustainable system.
  • To collect feedback from the SMEs in relation to problems and bottlenecks encountered, and to identify further requirements from both research and technology and associate information services.
  • To increase the awareness of the industry to the possibilities of using electronic communication media, and to improve the service of the Aquaculture Associations.
  • To enhance the application of research results, and hence the competitiveness of the sector, resulting in a growth of employment opportunities in aquaculture.

The project finished in 2003 and an on-line facility is currently been developed to access the deliverables of this project.
