HOW WE HELP STUDENTS
AquaTT is committed to the development of future generations of
aquaculturists. Future successful aquaculturists will require a new
range of competencies, in addition to the skills they develop in
current tertiary or vocational training, given a rapidly changing
industry which is increasingly adapting to new technology, legislation,
and new consumer demands. To ensure that competencies are developed in
line with the industry needs, training of the individuals in the
industry must also be adapted accordingly. With this in mind, AquaTT
works to devise and promote innovative useful learning tools,
materials, training courses and workshops.
Education Database
AQUA-TNET, a higher education forum led by AquaTT, has a mandate to
assess, compare and analyse the state of the aquaculture tertiary
education sector in Europe, and to identify key curriculum development
and assessment objectives leading to the dissemination of best practice
and a more open, transparent and innovative system of education
provision.Click here to visit the website.
Grants and Bursaries
AquaTT is not able to provide grants or bursaries itself. However, we provide an overview where you can find ways where to find them. Please click here for more information.
Student Workshop
The Aquaculture Student Workshop 2004, the first of its kind, took
place at the Aquaculture International Tradeshow in Glasgow. The
workshop, which received funding from the Directorate General Fisheries
of the European Commission, was devised and organised by the
partnership of AquaTT UETP Ltd (lead-partner), Aqualex Multimedia
Consortium Ltd (AMC), Ghent University and Heighway Events. The
workshop format was based on four elements:
Keynote presentations: Current Industry Issues
Keynote Presentations: Complementary Skills i.e. skills necessary for succesful career in research
Practical Interactive Exercise: Ithaca Island
Field Trip: Lamlash Marine Harvest Salmon Farm
If you are interested in supporting or hosting such a
future event, please contact AquaTT. To view information on the student workshops please click here.
Jobs and Mobility Service
The aquaculture industry has seen rapid expansion over the past
decade in many parts of Europe. With this expansion, has come the
development of new technologies, and thus the need for a highly skilled
and specialised workforce. Today, current and potential workers are
required to have recognised qualifications, to be flexible with regard
to the work functions they can carry out, and to be mobile within the
industry. AquaTT identified a clear need for mediation between job
searchers, employers, students and universities within the aquaculture
industry. This free service enables universities and employers to post
employment opportunities, training placements and MSc/ PhD positions
while simultaneously allowing students and job seekers to post their
CVs and to apply directly to these advertisements online. To visit th website please click here.
News Updates
AquaTT through its extensive network realised that essential
information on upcoming changes in the European Education Area were not
being effectively disseminated to all industry members. Thus, AquaTT
produces the free monthly electronic news service "TRAINING NEWS" to
provide updates on education and training, and the developments taking
place across Europe. If you are interesting in disseminating
information through this service please email news@aquatt.ie To view archived editions please click here.
