Dr. Lindsay Laird
Department of Zoology, University of Aberdeen

Lindsay died on the 2nd August 2001. Her extensive knowledge and experience of marine aquaculture, by no means only at the academic level, made her one of the best-known experts in European aquaculture. Her energy and the unfailing commitment that she gave to her many interests ensured that her presence and her contributions were much sought after. Lindsay played a vital role in the AquaTT Network. She was always supportive and actively involved right up until the very end and we owe her much thanks. Never one to shirk a challenge, Dr Laird, refused to capitulate in her long and brave battle against breast cancer, continuing to honour her publishing and academic commitments to the very last. She will be remembered with much affection and deep admiration by her many friends and colleagues world-wide.
