One of the main factors which impedes the sustainable development of aquaculture and fishery in Egypt as well as the whole Mediterranean North African region is the lack of transfer of state-of-the-art S&T. It is of paramount importance that cooperation with the EU and its neighbours is reinforced and that the production of knowledge and scientific excellence is enhanced, on the basis of mutual interest and mutual benefit. FORCE is designed to enhance the capacity of the Egyptian National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) to carry out research activities aimed at supporting the implementation of science-based policies for the sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture in Egypt, as well as in the whole Mediterranean North African region. FORCE will enable NIOF to fill the scientific and technological gap. |
